Chapter 6: They did not even have time to eat
Previous Chapter: Tell what great things God has done
The disciples just completed their first academic years, under the direct teaching of Jesus Christ, in the first year, they learned many Godly principles from Jesus, and astonished by His holiness and the miracles that he performed, and started saying that you are the "Son of God", but they did not know the deep meaning of "Son of God", and did not know Jesus is God himself, and had no idea that all praises, honor and glory belongs to Him alone, even so, the Lord gave them spiritual gifts and powers over the darkness and sent them to the ministry - 7.And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. 8.He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts 9.but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. 10.Also He said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. 11.And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city! 12.So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13.And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them - Mark 6:7-13
How the disciples would have done their first ministry? no doubt, they imitated Jesus Christ, because they were with Jesus Christ and well observed how Jesus used to cast down the demons with authority, so the disciples also spoke in the same manner to the evil spirit as they have all the power, because they does not know that we should command the demon in the name of Jesus, does not know that we should pray in the name of Jesus, and does not know the power resides in the name of Jesus Christ, and all praises, honor and glory belongs to Him alone, still Lord mercifully did so many miracles in their ministry, and the worst thing is, the disciples who came back from the ministry boasted themselves as they did all the miracles by their own power - 30.The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught. 31.And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and get some rest”, For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat - Mark 6:30-31
All that they had done
Why Jesus did not say anything[appreciate] to his disciples for completing their first mission trip successfully? Let's take an example. A king gave his money to one of his servants to help a needy person, and the servant also went and handed over the money to that needy, on returning, the servant boasted himself as he had given his own money, would it be acceptable? No, Not as all, It was the same with the disciples, that is why, the Lord did not respond anything to his disciples, but took them to the wilderness to teach the truth, and this was written in metaphorically that Jesus took them to wilderness to get some rest[Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and get some rest], If the purpose was to eat and take some rest, the Lord should have taken the disciples to a restaurant or form house, but Jesus took his disciples to the wilderness where you will not find proper place to sit also, but He took them to wilderness to give them spiritual food, so that the disciples would know about the living bread, and inherit the everlasting rest [eternal kingdom].
All that they had taught
And also the people who heard the teachings of the disciples gave different opinion about Jesus Christ, some said Jesus was Elijah, some said He is a prophet, and some said He is John the Baptist risen from dead - 14.Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, “John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.” 15.Others said, “It is Elijah.” And others said, “It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets.” 16.But when Herod heard, he said, “This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!” - Mark 6:14-16
Was it people mistake that they gave different opinion about Jesus Christ? lets take an example, a cricket coach was teaching some of the boys to play cricket, after the training, the boys were said that they learned hockey, whose fault is it? It is the fault of the coach, like that. It was here and the vague teaching of the disciples that people gave different opinion about Jesus Christ, instead of saying "Son of God", that 's because the disciples did not speak by the power of Holy Spirit, but spoke on their own understanding.
They could not even eat bread vs Did not even have time to eat
In initial days, the disciples not even know that Jesus is "Son of God", so it was told in metaphorically that "they could not even eat bread", but now, they started saying that Jesus is "Son of God", but still did not know that He is our Bridegroom, the One with whom we must abide eternally, all praise, honor, and glory belong solely to Him, so it was told in metaphorically that "Did not even have time to eat".
