Chapter 4: They did not even have time to eat
Previous Chapter: Tell what great things God has done for you
The disciples still did not know that the Lord is the one who performs miracles and wonders in our ministry, and that all praise, honor, and glory belongs to Him, even so, the Lord gave them gifts and powers over the darkness and sent them to the ministry, and did many miracles in their ministry - 7.And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. 8.He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts 9.but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. 10.Also He said to them, “In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. 11.And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city! 12.So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13.And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them - Mark 6:7-13
the disciples who had finished the first ministry, instead of thanking Jesus Christ for "miracles that the Lord has done", exaggerated themselves by saying "miracles that they had done" - 30.The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught - Mark 6:30
Let's say that a king sent a gift to his servant to help someone in his kingdom, after delivering the money, if the servant spoke as if he had given his own money, would it be acceptable? It was the same with the disciples, that is why, the Lord did not answer them, but took them to the wilderness to rest and rest. If the purpose was to rest and eat, the Lord should have taken the disciples to a prosperous place, or to a city. What was said here as food was our spiritual food, that is, the food of salvation that we should know that Jesus Christ is the bread of life, and it was for this that the Lord took the disciples to the wilderness - 31.And He said to them, “Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat - Mark 6:31
Definitly, the disciples are much better than initial days, initial days they not even shown interest is staying with Christ, but now, they want to follow Christ, but did not know that He is our Bridegroom, the One with whom we must abide eternally, all praise, honor, and glory belong solely to Him, and that is why it is written in the Gospel of Mark that "the disciples had no time to eat"
And also the people who heard the teachings of the disciples said that Jesus Christ was Elijah, the prophet, and the resurrected John - 14.Now King Herod heard of Him, for His name had become well known. And he said, “John the Baptist is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.” 15.Others said, “It is Elijah.” And others said, “It is the Prophet, or like one of the prophets.” 16.But when Herod heard, he said, “This is John, whom I beheaded; he has been raised from the dead!” - Mark 6:14-16
One of the reasons for this was the weakness in the teachings of the disciples, this can be easily understood if we look at an example. Suppose a coach teaches some boys to play cricket. After the training, if the boys say that they learned hockey, whose fault is it? It is the fault of the coach, like that. It was here and the vague teaching of the disciples that people called Jesus Christ Elijah, a prophet, and John the Risen One, that 's because the disciples did not speak by the Holy Spirit, but spoke on their own understanding - 30.The apostles returned to Jesus and told him all that they had done and taught - Mark 6:30
