Chapter 16: As they sat at the table
Previous Chapter: I have set an example
In the early days, the disciples who saw the Jesus Christ as an ordinary person, did not know how greater is the privilege is to be with the Lord, and also the worldly desires prevented them being with Christ, so it was told metaphorically - the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat bread - Mark 3:20
Here the Bread is referring to Jesus Christ, and "Crowd" is referring to the power of darkness, they are numerous in number, which hiding the truth, working against us in the form of lust, worldly desires, steeling our time and energy, and eventually our relationship with Christ, and it always comes in the form of people, so it was told metaphorically "the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat bread".
As the days went by, the disciples began to understand Lord's power, by hearing his teaching and seeing his miraculous work, even they started saying "Jesus is the Son of God", but still did not know that He is our Bridegroom, the One with whom we must abide eternally, all praise, honor, and glory belong solely to Him, and also, as we start following Christ, the distractions that scatter our thoughts and the demands that steal our time inevitably multiply, so they could not enjoy moment being with Christ, so it was told in metaphorically - For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat - Mark 6:31
but after being with Jesus for three and a half years, now they were filled with his memory, and wanted to see Him desperately, but He was crucified three days before, but in God's sight it was the moment of preparation to meet the Son of God, so it was told metaphorically "as they were reclining at table", there was no meal set before them, but Christ memory, and his teachings and commandments are before them, that's when the Living Bread appeared, with that they all completed their studies and got the mission to carry the Gospel to the entire world - 14.Afterward he appeared to the eleven themselves as they were reclining at table, and he rebuked them for their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they had not believed those who saw him after he had risen. 15.And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation - Mark 16:14-15
