Chapter 15: I have set an example
Previous Chapter: In Your name
Our Savior Jesus Christ, was not just a teacher; He also lived a life that serves as a model for us. It is essential that we, who follow Him, live such a life as well; for only by living in this manner will we be truly blessed - 13.You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. 14.If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. 15.For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. 16.Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17.If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them - John 13:13-17
when the disciples saw Jesus Christ speaking with a Samaritan woman, the Bible says the disciples were astonished at the Lord; does this not imply, then, talking with women is completely forbidden among them, Jesus lived model life for his disciples? - 25.The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” 26.Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” 27.And at this point His disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” - John 4:25-27
Why are these things written in the Bible? Why did the God who made the heavens and the earth live like this? This is certainly something we should observe, whoever we may be, when we talk to others, if there is a little lust in it, it is a sin against God, and it stinks the whole perfume - We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him - 1 John 5:18
Just before crucifixion
Furthermore, we see that when Jesus Christ came to Jerusalem, many women also came along with Him - 55.There were also many women there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to him, 56.among whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Joseph and the mother of the sons of Zebedee - Matthew 27:55-56
Nevertheless, during the night hours, the disciples remained alone; in this manner, our Lord Jesus Christ guided His disciples to lead lives of faithful witness - 1.When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered. 2.And Judas, who betrayed Him, also knew the place; for Jesus often met there with His disciples - John 18:1-2
After resurrection
Resurrection of Jesus Christ is an emotional moment for his followers, even in that situation Jesus told to Mary Magdalene "Do not touch Me" - Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God - John 20:17
but to prove that He conquered death, Ho told to his disciples "Touch me and see", why Jesus did this even after his resurrection, its because we must live a Holy life for him - 36.As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” 37.But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. 38.And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39.See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” 40.And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet - Luke 24:36-40
