Previous Chapter: There is a Little Boy here
After Christ's resurrection, and before receiving the power of Holy Spirit, the apostle Peter spoke about the prophecy which describes the fate of Judas Iscariot - 16.Men and brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17.for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry. 18.Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out. 19.And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood. 20.For it is written in the Book of Psalms: Let his dwelling place be desolate, And let no one live in it; and, Let another take his office - Acts 1:16-20
And then he put the lot on between two people first one is Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and the second person is Matthias, and chose Mattias as a replacement of Judas Iscariot - 21.Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22.beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection. 23.And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. 24.And they prayed and said, You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen 25.to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. 26.And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles - Acts 1:21-26
Why this was written in the Bible? definitely this incident is not written to practice "Lot", then why it was written in the Bible? we can learn from this incident that there was a person with three names [Joseph, Barsabas and Justus], and He was with Christ from the day he took the Baptism, and He must be excluded before the disciples receive the Holy Spirit.
One of the most important things Jesus Christ said was that God the Father is always with the Lord - And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him - John 8:29
God the Father was with the Lord not only during the days of Jesus Christ's ministry, but also when the Lord suffered for us on the cross - Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me - John 16:32
Furthermore, Joshua prophetically said that from the moment the feet of the High Priest Jesus Christ were dipped in the waters of the Jordan, that is, from the day the Lord was baptized, God the Father would be with Him - 9.And Joshua said to the people of Israel, Come here and listen to the words of the Lord your God. 10.And Joshua said, Here is how you shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites. 11.Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is passing over before you into the Jordan. 12.Now therefore take twelve men from the tribes of Israel, from each tribe a man. 13.And when the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off from flowing, and the waters coming down from above shall stand in one heap - Joshua 3:9-13
To illustrate how the prophecies about the Lord were fulfilled, he indirectly mentions that three men named Justus, Barsabbas, and Joseph were with the Lord from the day he was baptized until the day he was taken up.
When we read superficially, he seems to us to be an ordinary person, unworthy of being chosen as an apostle, but he is the Almighty God, the God who did not leave his only begotten Son alone. There is no doubt that if we do what pleases the Father like Jesus Christ did, He will be with us also.
