Previous Chapter: Who stood near by cross as Mother of Jesus?
One of the Old Testament prophecies says that, the Father must be present when the Son is laid in the altar of sacrificial offering - Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son. And he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together - Genesis 22:6
And the another prophecy says, The Father must be suffering along with Son - He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a Lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a Sheep[Mother of the Lamb] that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth - Isaiah 53:7
No Father can bear the death penalty of his Son, that was the reason, Prophet Isaiah wrote the agony of Jesus Christ as a Lamb that is waiting to be slaughtered, and the grief of Heavenly Father as a Sheep that does not open the mouth while shearing, since this prophecy must be fulfilled, Christ said, Father will be with me at the time of his suffering - Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. Yet I am not alone, for the Father is with me - John 16:32
So what Christ said to his Mother and Disciple is an evident for the fulfillment of the prophecies - 25.Now there stood by the cross of Jesus[Lamb] His mother[Sheep], and His mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26.When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, Woman, behold your son! 27.Then He said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. 28.After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, I thirst! 29.Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 30.So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit - John 19:25-30
And what Christ said to his Father and to His disciple, is the beginning of many becoming the Children of Almighty God, and the disciple's response is translated like this "from that hour that disciple took her to his own home", but the actual meaning is "from that hour the disciple became Father's own", so what Christ said in the Cross is to became the Children of Living God and rest in his bosom - And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them, You are not My people, There they shall be called sons of the living God - Romans 9:26
But if we say, No! that is Mother Mary who stood next to the cross and wept for his Son, and let's make an idol for her, the Bible says - 21.For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22.Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23.and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things - Romans 1:21-23
