God to Moses about the Messiah - you may indeed set a king over you whom the Lord your God will choose
When you come to the land that the Lord your God is giving you, and you possess it and dwell in it and then say, ‘I will set a king over me, like all the nations that are around me,’
you may indeed set a king over you. whom the Lord your God will choose (Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen, My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased! - Matthew 12:18a)
One from among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother. (Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh - Romans 1:3b)
Only he must not acquire many horses for himself or cause the people to return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, ‘You shall never return that way again.’ (Even the King Solomon failed in this expectation - Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king’s merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price - 1 Kings 10:28)
And he shall not acquire many wives for himself, lest his heart turn away (Even the King Solomon failed in this expectation - And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart - 1 Kings 11:3)
nor shall he acquire for himself excessive silver and gold. (Even the King Hezekiah failed in this expectation - Hezekiah had very great riches and honor. And he made himself treasuries for silver, for gold, for precious stones, for spices, for shields, and for all kinds of desirable items - 2 Chronicles 32:27)
“And when he sits on the throne of his kingdom, he shall write for himself in a book a copy of this law, approved by the Levitical priests. And it shall be with him, and he shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God by keeping all the words of this law and these statutes, and doing them, (The only one who fulfilled this expectation is Jesus Christ - Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? - John 8:46)
that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, and that he may not turn aside from the commandment, either to the right hand or to the left, (Even the King David failed in this expectation - Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab and against the captains of the army. Therefore Joab and the captains of the army went out from the presence of the king to count the people of Israel - 2 Samuel 24:4)
so that he may continue long in his kingdom, he and his children, in Israel - Deuteronomy 17:14-20
