Chapter 9: Children's Crumbs
Previous Chapter: Washing of pots and cups
After that, Jesus took His disciples to the region of Tire and Sidon, a non Jewish region, which it about 2 to 3 days walk from Galilee, and Jesus came all the way from Galilee for one non Jewish woman, but more than that He want to deliver the very important message "Children's Crumbs", but if read this story in flesh, it may appear as God of Heaven came to this earth only for Jewish people, and rest all are dogs in his sight - 21.Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22.And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed. 23.But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us. 24.But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25.Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26.But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs” - Matthew 15:21-23
Even among the Christians, it was preached that, in God's sight, Jews are "Children", and the Gentiles are "Dogs", and He came only for Jews, but Jesus started his ministry with the clear agenda that He came for entire world and not just for Israel - But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian. So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way - Luke 4:25-30
If Jesus came only for Jews, there is no reason for him walk for three days and come to the non Jewish city of Tire and Sidon, and say when Jesus said i came only for the lost sheep of the house of Israel, He was talking about that very Canaanite woman, whom God is chosen for his Son's kingdom - 6.But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 7.nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.” 8.That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed - Romans 9:6-8
If Jesus came for entire world, then whom He is referring as "Children"? Here the plural word "Children" is pointing to Jesus himself, because He is not a single person, Jesus Christ is the first born of all, in Him the Spirit of Father, and the Holy Spirit dwelled, so the word "Children" teaching his trinity, and also reveling the truth that all three of them suffered for our salvation,
What is children's bread? There are certain things[Heavenly bread] belongs to Jesus Christ, and no one else is worthy for that Heavenly bread, even to imagine it, for example, the anointing of Holy Spirit belongs to Him, He alone can see the Father, Holiness belongs to Him, Death has no control over him, and even the Power of Resurrection belongs to Him.
And this bread was broken at the cross of calvary, and the crumb was spilled as blood, only Humble would be able grab this crumb, and even today the salvation is not working for pride hearted, when we have that crumbs, we also receiving the anointing of Holy Spirit, and we will rise us for his eternal kingdom, and when we have that crumbs, the Heavenly God looks us as his own children. In this world, many would call the God of Heaven for their need, but heaven cannot answer it unless we chose the right path, not only for this worldly blessing, but for the eternal life.
To teach this Gospel truth, Jesus remained in silent and did not respond to the Canaanite woman's cry, and at some point of time, the disciples were so anxious as she continue calling to heal her daughter - 24.From there He arose and went to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And He entered a house and wanted no one to know it, but He could not be hidden. 25.For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet. 26.The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth, and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter. 27.But Jesus said to her, Let the children be filled first, for it is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs - Mark 7:24-27
And finally she humbled herself and claimed Christ blood that he shed on the Cross, the moment she humbled herself and claimed children's crumbs, the heaven responded her cry and healed her daughter - 28.And she answered and said to Him, Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children’s crumbs. 29.Then He said to her, “For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.” 30.And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed. 31.Again, departing from the region of Tyre and Sidon, He came through the midst of the region of Decapolis to the Sea of Galilee - Mark 7:24-31
